Occasionally I have a crafty side.

I do not consider myself to be a crafter.  The leaders spent several hours in December creating a lovely wood decoration for the Young Women at church.  It was crafting purgatory for me, with all that stencil peeling and applying, and getting paint under my nails.  Every now and then, though, some manageable craft is enjoyable.  Last Saturday, after the kids' museum, Mystery Man and I went to Color Me Mine to paint ceramics.  I was really surprised he had interest in going.  We were probably there 2-3 hours.

I painted a cute dragon.  His name is Hugo.  The silver for his nostrils/ears/alternating spikes turned out more white than I wanted, but he's still cute.

Mystery Man painted a Star Wars theme on a plate.  He used a technique where he painted blocks of color, covered the entire thing with many layers of black paint, and finally scratched out the design he wanted, revealing the color underneath.  I wrote the letters for him to trace, which brought out my perfectionist side in trying to perfectly center the words.

He picked up the finished products last night, and I like how they turned out.  Because of the thick paint layers, his surface is bubbled up, with indents for the letters.  The side designs are money (bounty) and light sabers, if you couldn't tell.  Way more creative than I would have been.

I love ceramics. I haven't done them since I was a teen. That sounds like a fun date. My writer brain is going wild over this mystery man and his accessories.
