Advent calendars!

We have two advent calendars. One is a wall hanging where you decorate the tree a bit more each day. Because it has little bells that jingle when I walk by, Echo has a hard time leaving it alone. He's been good this year thus far.

The second advent calendar is a 3-ring binder and a CD. Each day, you play the appropriate track on the CD (a Christmas carol), read the listed scripture, and read the Christmas-related story. It's pretty cool! Nathan and I haven't been very consistent in doing it in the past, we typically miss half the days, but this year I'm making an effort to have lots of family time in December. We curl up in our big chair and take turns reading. If I start to cry, Nathan makes silly comments about the story or tickles me. :P

Take my poll and tell me about your advent calendar!

Cherish where did you get the advent calender in the binder? What a great idea to bring the Chistmas spirit into your heart and home! And I love all of your decorations.

Thanks! It was a gift from the Mikesell family.

Does eating candy every day count? haha

This seems like an awesome idea. Not that I have someone to read with and tickle me when I cry. LOL! Someday I tell ya..

Got a cloth one with figures that stick on with Velcro (registered trademark) and make a Bethlehem scene; it's pretty, but of course my PREFERENCE would be a chocolate one.
I like Jaime's idea!!

You don't have an option for none! :) I've never gotten one and some years I have gotten the picture ones for the kids but this year things are tight, but there is a really pretty one from the friend that I keep meaning to make. :) It is the Dec. 2003 Friend pages, 24,25, 34-36 but look it up in the PDF version! :) I even printed it our one year on card stock but never cut it out or laminated it! What a slacker!! :)
