One year as a trainer

I've been doing training for a year now and it's amazing how far our training team has come.  Oh before I start, I'm required to say things like this blog post is full of my personal opinions and in no way officially represents The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or my employer, The Corporation of the Presiding Bishop.

In the last year, I've improved my training skills, worked on my professional and personal development, learned new software, formed valuable working relationships, provided a lot of training, and worked my tush off.

I still love my laptop and smartphone, and in the next month, we'll have new toys at work.  Our fantastic training lab is about to acquire professional video equipment and an ipad, enabling us to produce more professional recordings of live training sessions.  One of the challenges we face is providing training that fits into everyone's schedule.  One solution is recording sessions for reps to watch later, between phone calls.  While we appreciate the current technology, this will be better.

Some weeks I feel like I'm running nonstop, and March will be no exception.  In addition to the normal round of new employees to train, I'm working on several other exciting projects.  On top of that, I'm planning Nathan's birthday party and helping coordinate some other gatherings.  When I don't feel overwhelmed, I enjoy the challenge.

I'm really grateful for the fantastic growth opportunities I've had over the past year, thanks to my job.

So nice to hear when people can really enjoy their jobs. Hope that the challenges this month aren't too overwhelming!

I used to work in Employee Training back before Emily was born. I worked for the company that makes library software (Horizon.) We video-taped training all the time, but I don't think I was very good at recording or using the technology. It sounds like you're better at it than I was. Thanks for coming to the party last night. Sorry I didn't get a chance to talk to you.
