Sometimes I forget that I've been married for 8 1/2 years and living on my own for 9 1/2 years, and some things were already used....so it's normal for them to break.
I had to remind myself of that this week when:
1) I dropped my large mixing/serving spoon and it shattered.
2) I snapped my wooden spoon in half while pressing down sauerkraut (finally making it!)
3) My hand mixer died in the middle of making pie filling.
I wasn't prepared for the spoons to break. That's been a challenge. But my mixer cost me $5 and has mixed a lot of stiff cookie dough. It lived a good life. I've expected it to die for years, so I held on to a wedding gift, rightfully assuming the mixer would die at a very inconvenient time.
I'm loving my new mixer! It has three sets of beaters and six speeds, as compared to my old three speed mixer where only two speeds worked. It did a fantastic job on the peanut butter pie...which is looking mighty tasty in the freezer right this minute.

I'm always breaking wooden spoons too. They need to make them a little thicker.
I finally gave up on buying $5 mixers, I kept having bad luck with them so I also bought the nicer set with the three different kinds of beaters and I love it! I don't have a Bosch or anything, but this hand mixer helps a ton when I make bread. :) I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Mmm - peanut butter pie, sounds delicious. . . it's all I can think about :)
Anyway, if it makes you feel any better I broke 2, yes TWO, 9x13 pyrex dishes yesterday. Luckily, it was after dinner and only one of them still had food in it, but I was pretty upset. Luckily, there's lots of Black Friday pyrex sets on sale and my in-laws picked up one for me.
Yep, things break. I'm glad you like your new mixer! You're so much like mom it's scary!! HAHA
