Opening a jar of summer
Probably my favorite time to open home-canned jars of food is during the blah winter months when I'm sick. Opening a jar of bright peaches to eat when swallowing vitamins is like opening a jar of sunshine. I can sweeten my herbal tea with lemon-mint syrup that came from my own herb beds. I don't know how much more of myself I can invest in crafting something - to tend herb beds, carefully harvest the best leaves, and make them into a tasty creation. It's love and nurturing in a jar. :)

Sounds like a great way to enjoy this awful weather. I think I'll open up some cherries!
Home-canned stuff is the best. Someday, I'm going to learn how.
