Youth camp fundraiser

There's been a lot going on.  Work's been crazy, I coordinated a work potluck on Friday, and I helped with our church youth camp fundraiser on Saturday.  The craziness isn't over yet - more blog posts to come over the next week.

Here's Nathan in half of his leprechaun costume (minus the coat and hat) and me with a shamrock necklace, ready to head to the fundraiser.

The youth listed services for sale as part of the fundraiser.  I came up with the idea to use the wall as a giant bulletin board.  We pinned up cards telling who would provide what service for how much.  If you wanted a service, you took the card to the payment table and exchanged it for a certificate to redeem directly with the person offering the service.  That way we won't have to coordinate anything after the fact.  It took me a lot longer than anticipated to make up all the service cards and certificates (partly because I used fun fonts, haha).
The youth were very involved in setting up, cleaning up, helping with the dessert auction, etc.  Many people put tons of work into this but I'm glad the youth participated so much, since the money is being raised on their behalf.

We always set a budget before heading to the fundraiser, so we don't get caught up in the frenzy of the auction and spend more than planned.  We do try to make it a generous amount to help the youth, and they were lucky this year, because I had just gotten a nice raise and was feeling rich!  :-)

You might remember last year's highly expensive chocolate peanut butter explosion cake.  Well, we won it again this year (for a lower price, thank goodness!), along with some other tastiness like this chocolate mint cake.

I'm so glad the fundraiser is over.  In addition to the hours I put into coordinating service items, I also made a pot of chili to make sure we'd have enough food.  While I didn't win, I do think it tasted pretty good.  Next up, St. Patty's Day dinner with friends, a daddy-daughter dinner at church, and Nathan's birthday LAN party.  Then I have a couple weeks to recover from all this food making before I host Easter dinner at our house.

You are amazing! Thanks for all your hard work before and during the fundraiser, I keep hearing good things about it. I'm overjoyed that's it over now though. :)

Where do you get the energy? I feel frazzeled just reading about all that is on your plate (and I don't mean the mint cake - I'd take that...)!
XOXO

I just realized after the fundraiser that we didn't get any of the things we REALLY wanted. We did come home with some delicious cookies, but no fancy cakes. I will have to give myself a pep talk next year about how frugality is good, but we can splurge for one really awesome dessert. Anyway, we got some services that we will need and did have fun.

Loved Nathan's costume. My in-laws were over for dinner last night and told us about some of the St Patrick's day parade costumes. Nathan's 'costume' would have been pretty mild compared to theirs. So glad that you both are such a fun couple and make things special and enjoyable.

Adam and I both think that your chili was one of the ones that should have won!
