'Cause we are living in a material world...

Yes, I have lots of material possessions, but I don't think I'm entirely caught up in this insane world where we live, either. I just pulled up the Target ad online, which I do every week, and it's filled with things that we "need" to buy for our dad to make him happy this year. The front page is TV's. $829 or $469 if you choose the smaller one. Are they serious? Who drops that much money on Father's Day? Who *has* that much money to spend on Father's Day? Who is insane enough to go into debt to spend that much on Father's Day?

Thankfully, not me. I love my dad. I really, really love him. However, I can't imagine that he would be happy if I bought him a massive TV that cost as much as my mortgage payment.

OK there's my rant for the day. I'll go spend my time thinking of a more practical Father's Day gift.

before my dad passed away he always made sure I knew that the best gifts were from the heart and not the wallet...it was more fun to do something than to give something, because a memory is forever!!!!

I can't believe that! It is insane how much they materialize Father's Day.

I love my Dad too. But, there is no way I will go into debt to get a present. My Dad wouldn't let me do that. He would so make me take it back. LOL.
